Privacy Policy

Familect is a family language-learning app published by Seldon Strategies LLC. This policy explains what information the app processes and the controls available to you.

Information We Process

• Account information: your email address, display name, language preference, and authentication records. Our authentication provider processes sign-in credentials; Seldon Strategies does not receive your plaintext password.
• Family and course information: family membership, Guide or Learner role, invitations, course settings, and sharing preferences.
• Learning information: mission requests, lesson assignments, answers, attempts, review history, completion state, and real-world outcomes you choose to record.
• Audio: the current version plays Korean pronunciation using on-device speech. Microphone recording and transcription are disabled; the current app does not collect voice recordings.
• Device and operational information: notification tokens when enabled and limited security, reliability, and error events. Operational logs exclude household text, target sentences, answers, names, phone numbers, and audio.

How We Use Information

We use information to authenticate users, connect family members, deliver and synchronize lessons, schedule review, provide optional audio and notification features, generate data exports, delete accounts, prevent abuse, and maintain service reliability.

Guide and Learner Privacy

The Learner's detailed answers, recordings, response timing, and mistake history are private by default. A Guide receives a filtered summary such as assignment and completion state, broad concepts practiced, readiness, and outcomes the Learner chooses to share. Detailed sharing remains off unless the Learner changes that preference.

AI and Audio Processing

Bundled foundation lessons and review practice do not make AI requests. AI-assisted mission generation is restricted to approved beta accounts. When an authorized Guide requests a mission, the request and necessary learning context pass through an authenticated Seldon Strategies service to the processing provider. Generated language is validated and remains private until the Guide approves assignment. Household content is treated as untrusted input and provider usage is capped. Korean pronunciation uses on-device speech. Do not submit sensitive information that is unnecessary for language learning.

Service Providers

Familect uses Google Firebase and Google Cloud for passwordless email authentication, application data, protected server functions, and app-integrity checks. Sign-in emails are delivered through Seldon Strategies' Google Workspace account. Authorized AI-assisted mission requests may be processed by Fireworks AI through Seldon Strategies' private gateway. Apple processes App Store distribution, device services, and notifications when enabled. Expo provides build and distribution tooling. These providers process information to deliver their respective services under their own terms and privacy commitments.

Sharing, Advertising, and Tracking

We do not sell personal information, show third-party advertising, or track you across other companies' apps and websites. We disclose information only to the service providers described above, to family members according to your in-app sharing choices, when you direct us to do so, or when required by law.

Retention and Security

Account and learning data are retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Access is restricted by account, family membership, and course role. Private download links and data exports expire. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we apply administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information processed.

Your Choices

You can decline notification permissions, use bundled foundation lessons and review without AI requests, change supported privacy preferences, export your data, leave a family where available, or permanently delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes associated app data and cannot be undone, subject only to limited retention required by law or necessary for security and fraud prevention.

Children

Familect is designed for adults learning with family and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as Familect changes. The current version and effective date will appear on this page.
